Workshops for Individuals

Body Sensing Spring workshops

Body Sensing MTM is a “mindfulness through movement” method that uses the mind/body connection for physical and emotional wellbeing. Body Sensing brings you 2 workshops in September that will transform the way you practice mind/body movement and is ideal for anyone interested in using Somatic principles in movement therapy, Pilates, Yoga , Gyrotonics or any other mind/body practice. Somatic principles are based on the theory that shift happens far quicker when working on both the mind and body versus the mind alone.

B R E A T H E 24th September 2011

This workshop is ideal for those interested in using Somatic principles in their movement or therapy practice. It is a restorative approach that works with the parasympathetic nervous system to restore balance to the autonomic nervous system. It helps clients who experience tension and tightness in their Musculoskeletal structure due to physical or emotional stress, repertory problems, anxiety or pain.
Stress management interventions recommend breathing to restore balance to the Autonomic nervous system. This workshop focuses on the importance of breath its influence on our emotions, posture, movement and alignment and how to bring awareness to its quality.

The Tempremental Psoas 25th September 2011

The Psoas is the emotional messenger of the spine and the only muscle that connects the spine to the legs. Its complexity and function are the subject of debate in many movement modalities yet its feelings are often ignored! This workshop is dedicated to looking at the physical and emotional psoas and how to maintain its healthy function including:

  • The Biointelligent messaging system that influences it’s function.
  • Its influence on the diaphragm, pelvic floor and the adrenal glands and its connection with breathing, walking and emotional wellbeing.
  • How to influence it’s release and pendulum-like function.
  • Stretching, resting and releasing the Psoas for optimum mobility, flexibility and core efficiency.
  • An experience of “tremoring” when the Psoas is at rest.
